Where is the summer going?

I can't believe that it's August 20th! I know, I have not written a word about our fabulous trip to Colorado Springs. I will...one day! But for now, we are packing up to leave for the beach on Sunday! We will be going with 3 other families and looking forward to a week filled with tons of fun! 10 adults and 8 kids! PHEW!

It's been a great summer, but I have to admit, I am SUPER ready for it to come to an end and to get back to our routine. I am so ready that I compared the two school calendars today for the boys and have everything checked, marked, and all dates on Jason's calendar! I am beginning to realize that I need to order a calendar from www.momagenda.com - they are awesome. It runs from August 2010 thru December 2012 - perfect for keeping track of the many different activities going on.

Okay everyone...off to finish up the laundry and to pick up a new pair of crocs for C - yes, perfect timing - one of the straps broke yesterday - and we certainly cannot go to the beach without the crocs! Have a great week and I'll have tons of updates after August 29th!

4th of July in NC and Parker's 1st Birthday!

What a wild and crazy week we had! On Friday, the 2nd, we headed down to NC to see my parents for the 4th. We packed up the car the night before and pulled away from 905 Allison at exactly 5:55 am! It's first time we were actually extremely organized and I have to say, we didn't forget one thing. The drive down was pretty uneventful and we made it there around 3:30. The boys were great and we experienced the fabulous question of "Are we there yet?" many, many times. Just the first of many road trips hearing one or both of the boys asking that, I'm sure.
Saturday, we went into Biltmore and participated in the Biltmore Forest parade. C rode his scooter while P enjoyed being pushed in the stroller. The parade was followed by a picnic that included face painting, "fishing" for toys, enormous moon bounce slide, dunking booth, hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy, and frozen custard. And guess what? Campbell did ALL of it with the exception of the dunking booth.
Saturday night, we went to my cousin's house for his annual 4th of July weekend pig roast. Campbell had so much fun playing with his cousins. From playing croquet to swinging to hide and seek to dress up. It was quite the night.

Sunday, we went the lake and then to the Biltmore Club for more 4th of July fun! C had his usual 4th of July meal - cotton candy and snow cone! Parker loaded up on some watermellon.

By Monday, we were all pretty wiped out. We took the boys to an indoor playzone and played a round of putt-putt. Then back up the mountain for naps and packing up to go home.

The trip back to VA took 4 hours longer than it should have. On I-81, we had a flat tire! UGH! After a couple of hours getting it fixed (first finding a place that could fix it), we were back on the road. We pulled into our driveway just before 9pm.

Wednesday morning, we woke up singing Happy Birthday to Parker! Woohoo! We ate our breakfast and headed out to his 1 year checkup. Poor guy, had 3 shots and an extensive round of bloodwork. He was such a trooper.

Saturday, we celebrated P's birthday! It was supposed to be "Fun in the Sun" in our backyard with a kiddie pool and sprinklers. That whole plan got squashed, as it rained from Friday night thru Saturday afternoon. Thank GOD for the YMCA! Their multi-purpose room was available, so a quick location change, Chick-Fil-A, and some cake...we were set! Everyone had a great time and Parker LOVED, LOVED, LOVED his cake.

AHHHHH...glad that week is over and we're back into our routine. C is at a daycamp this week and next and then we'll gear up to go to Colorado Springs on the 28th to celebrate Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary.

Sweet Dreams

I never thought the day would come when both boys would nap at the same time and for about the same amount of time. PHEW!!! We did it! After months of getting P on a schedule, he finally realized that napping is an okay thing and that he would give in and just do it. EVERYONE is so much happier.

Last week, we had to go somewhere and not one noise was coming from either of their rooms. So, I went in to wake them and this is what I found. We ended up having to skip where we were going, because I was NOT about to wake them. Was I complaining? Not in the least. Hopefully, the two precious boys are sleeping thru a very loud thunderstorm right now (although I would not be surprised if the lightning and thunder wakes one or both)!

Happy Monday!

Happy Father's Day

A very special shout out to my Dad and to Jason for being such important role models in my life and C and P's life. Campbell, Parker, and I are so fortunate to have you all as dads and we couldn't have asked for anything better. You give of yourselves without hesitation and love us unconditionally. We will forever be thankful for everything you do for us and we love you.

Also, Happy Father's Day to my father-in-law, brothers-in-law, and 2 brothers. You ALL are wonderful men and I hope you have a wonderful day!

28 days and counting...

until Parker's 1st birthday. I cannot believe how fast this year has gone. It goes so much faster on the 2nd kiddo, not as much time to sit around and relish in every "first." The past few weeks, Parker has taken off. He was just army crawling 2 weeks ago and now he's on knees and hands and pulling up on everything. He's a complete wild man. Everything Campbell is playing with, Parker wants and the same for Campbell. He's now decided that Parker's toys (his old ones) are way cooler than the big kid toys. I am beginning to play referee more and more and know that it won't end for a LONG time.

We left the boys with my in-laws this weekend and went to Long Island for a wedding. The weekend was fabulous, and even included a day and night in the Hamptons. Could it get any better? For two days, I hung up my "mom" hat and was a real adult for 48 hours. Then back on Sunday and the glass slipper was off and the mom hat was back on. I wouldn't trade it for anything, but it sure was nice to have some time with Jason and our great friends.

Hope everyone is having a great week. Happy Hump Day!
