Merry Christmas
Last week was my "lost week." From the moment we arrived back in VA from Thanksgiving, I was consumed with the Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend. I spent each day placing over 100 volunteers into over 200 volunteer shifts to make the weekend work. Yes folks, you read it correctly. Less volunteers than shifts! But we did it and the weekend was great! The Spence family walked in the parade on Saturday (well Campbell walked for a bit and Parker rode in the stroller). Campbell loved handing out candy canes to the other kids watching the parade. He's even more excited about the fact that we'll get to ride in the convertible next year!

We found time to decorate the tree and house on Sunday and Christmas is officially here! I can't believe that Christmas is in 2 weeks! Where has the time gone? We are looking forward to a fun two weeks of seeing santa and taking a special train ride.
Merry, Merry and Happy, Happy!

Duck, Duck, Drew!

We took out the Halloween costumes for the first time and dressed the boys for the country club Halloween party. They were so cute and we had a great time. Although, the haunted house was quite scary for Campbell and hopefully he will sleep thru the night tonight without any nightmares of monsters. :) In all honestly, the haunted house was quite impressive and even made me jump a bit! Off to a halloween parade tomorrow followed by a fall festival at Parker's school. Hope you're having a great weekend!
Countdown to Campbell's 4th Birthday!

I CANNOT BELIEVE C WILL BE 4 in 1 WEEK!!! Where did the time go? When did he become this little boy and no longer a wobbly toddler who said "wub you" for "love you", "ya-ya" for "hot", "b-b" for airplane, "dat-do" for "thank you", and so on. Now he's asking questions like "Daddy, you make money?" The funny thing about this is that we were talking about Jason working and making money when Campbell so innocently asked that question. He really thought Jason physically made money. I WISH! We are in such amazement with every question, comment, thought, feeling, and expression that this little boys throws at us. Every year, around his birthday, I get very sentimental (okay, I know, when am I not sentimental), thinking about his arrival and how I instantly fell in love with this little human being. I didn't know him, but couldn't wait to learn every trait that he would have.
In the last 4 years, Campbell has grown to be a sweet, sensitive, loving, caring, nurturing, smart, social, and fun boy. It's hard to believe how much he's done in 4 years and it's only the beginning.
He's traveled to New Orleans 8 times (this includes 4 Mardi Gras trips), North Carolina 3 times, the beach 2 times, Florida once, and Colorado once. He has been to 3 zoos, taken multiple pony rides, carousel rides, almost mastered swimming, is learning to play tennis and kickball, is singing in the church choir, and is in his 3rd year of school. I am sure I am forgetting something and thanks for reading all of this. It's more for me, so I can one day remember all of the fun he had before he turned 4.
Thank you, Campbell, for making us your parents. For letting us love you and for trusting in us to give you the best possible life. We couldn't be more proud of you and look forward to MANY, MANY, MANY years of fun and laughter! We love you.

I'm A Nut...
Campbell has been learning all kinds of songs at school and has impressed us so much with this new one that I had to take a video and post it! Happy Friday!

Happy Birthday to my Sweet, Sweet Mom!
Today is my mother's 74th birthday. Yes, she is 74 and looks FABULOUS! I know she won't mind that I've said her age because unlike many women, she is proud of her age. In her 74 years, she has had 5 wonderful children, wiped tons of runny noses, attended one too many parent-teacher conferences (some good, some not so good), driven countless carpools, served on lots of volunteer boards, become a grandmother of 4 ranging in age from 21 down to 1, survived cancer, has been married to my dad for 50 years, and not once has had a complaint or regret. She is such a strong, beautiful, caring, loving, and devoted woman and friend. I just pray that I can look back when I'm 74 and have done at least half the things she has accomplished.

Happy Birthday, Mom. Here's to MANY, MANY more fun years. I love you.

And so it begins...
The weekday practices and the weekend games. Yes folks, little league has begun in the Spence house! Alexandria Little League now starts with kickball f or kids ages 4-6. Campbell had his first practice and game last week and it was hysterical! The kids are all totally confused...one girl kicked the ball, then ran afterit to catch it; another (our son) kicked the ball and then stood there. It looks like they all need a little help with the basics! That's why we went ahead and signed Campbell up.

Parker's First Day of School
Wednesday, September 8, 2010
The start of another school year!
Yesterday we had Campbell's open house at Grace Episcopal School. He was with a few of his classmates and they were able to have a tour by the teacher, Mrs. Young. Campbell was so excited that his buddy from First Baptist Preschool (where he went the last 2 years) was there too. It definitely calmed any nerves that he had. William and Campbell walked hand-in-hand wherever they went. It was too cute.
Today, we woke up and headed out for the first day of school. It's a big difference going to school at 8:30 instead of 10:00. But it was certainly a nice change. I picked him up at noon and he was happy as can be! I couldn't have asked for a better first day for my little guy.
Friday is open house for Parker at First Baptist. He will be having the same teacher that Campbell had his first year there. We are super excited and can't wait.

AHHHH, the beach!
What a wonderul week we had at the beach. The boys loved every minute in the sand and pool! We had a week filled with fabulous weather (only rained once and at night), good food, and tons of laughter. Here's how the week went...
Monday...beach in the morning, lunch, naps/beach time for mommy/pool time for daddy, pool time for boys
Tuesday...down time in the morning - cloudy day, lunch, naps/pool time for mommy and daddy
Wednesday...Corolla light house, lunch, naps/golf for daddy/pool time for mommy, wine festival
Thursday...beach with C's classmate, home for naps/pool time
Friday...beach, naps/pool time
Saturday...go carts/putt-putt, lunch, naps/pool time
Sunday...home again, home again jiggity jig! But first...had to stop to see and ride on the Grave Digger monster truck!
We all came back with great tans and ready to start the school year! Campbell starts on Wednesday and Parker starts the following Monday. I even took them today for their beginning of the schoolyear haircuts! Maybe I'm more ready for them to go to school then they are.
