Renovation - Day 17

The past week has gone so fast, and TONS of progress has been made on project 905 Allison St! Last weekend, the tile guy NEVER left. Well he did, but not until 9:00 at night Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. But it was worth every minute. Our bathroom is finished being tiled, now we'll paint and put in the fixtures. Almost finished on that part!

Yesterday, we had inspections and passed quickly! Today, they hung the dry wall and it looks great. Enjoy the pictures...

Happy 75th Birthday, Dad!

75 years and still going! He's like the energizer bunny, he just keeps going and going and going! I have never met a 75 year old with more of a love of life, sports, family and work. He lives each day and moment for all of those and I know that my siblings and I are forever grateful for the countless hours he has spent to make our family happy and complete.

Happy, Happy Birthday, Dad! We love you and toast to many more years of laughter!

Campbell and I hit the runway...

Last night, was the Junior Friends 12th Annual Toast to Fashion benefiting the Campagna Center of Alexandria. For the 2nd year, Campbell and I participated as models for the fashion show. We each modeled for 2 local stores. Campbell wore a swimsuit and matching shirt and hat from Robcyns and then was a "ring bearer" for Monday's Child. Campbell and Caroline were precious in their wedding attire.
I modeled two great dresses. The first from J.McLaughlin in Georgetown and the second was a dress by Jack Rogers (yes, they now are making dresses, tote bags, new styles of sandals - jelly flip flops, cork wedges, and have made the flat sandals more comfortable with a layer of rubber in the sole) from Kiskadee in Alexandria.
I must say, I think my son enjoys the modeling A LOT more than I do and has asked to do it over and over again! The only reason I modeled was because he wanted me to do it with him. Next year, as Chair of Jr. Friends - I will have other duties, so we might just have to convince Jason to strut his stuff on the catwalk!

Day 8 - Master Bath Demolition

No new updates on the basement. All the framing was done last week, electricians worked on re-wiring and securing the lighting yesterday.
THEN...the master bath demolition began! We are all using the hall bathroom, which I think is cramping Campbell's style :)! After our bathroom is done, we'll tackle the hall bath and the boys will then be using ours.

A little glimpse of Mardi Gras!

What a great trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. The weather was good and the boys LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the parades. The ladder was a huge hit and was the perfect way to contain the 2 wild Spence boys. Mostly, it was for Parker who is not one to sit still. Campbell, on the other hand, would sit in the ladder all day if you told him to.
We loaded up on beads, toys, and food. No more king cake for another year, and I think I'm fine with that. There are more pictures on our picasaweb album, just click the link for the spencefam2 album to see.
Now we're ready for spring to arrive. Campbell and I will be modeling next week in a fashion show for Jr. Friends (the organization that I am involved with) and he is so excited. He's modeling for 2 stores (one a ring bearer outfit and the other is a swimsuit and shirt). Stay tuned for pictures.
Will keep posting pictures of the renovation...they are framing the walls today and I have not seen what has been done yet. I can't wait to go and see once they leave. It's amazing that both boys are sleeping thru all of the noise. Thank GOD!

Renovation - Day 1 - Demolition

Well, we've begun! I will do my best to take pictures daily to post. The contractor has estimated that this will be a 4-6 week project, so let the counting begin :)

Renovation

Pre-Renovation!
We started demolition today on our office and laundry to make room for a play room! We will enclose the laundry and have a built-in desk area. Here are the pictures taken last night after we got everything out and ready for the contractor.
