Happy 3rd Birthday Campbell!
It's almost 6:30 in the morning, I have just fed Parker, and I am so excited for Campbell to wake up. Today, my precious, sweet, loving, charming (I'll get to that story in a minute), smart little boy is 3!!! I cannot believe how fast the last three years have flown by. All week, I have been remembering what I was doing 3 years ago. It's amazing that this little human being that was in my belly for 9 months is now a walking, talking, laughing kid.
Yesterday, I asked Campbell what his name is. Here's the conversation...
Mommy: What's your name?
Campbell: Campbell
Mommy: Campbell what?
Campbell: Campbell Spence
Mommy: Campbell what Spence?
Campbell: Campbell gentleman Spence
I kid you not, my child thought his middle name was gentleman. I broke out in hysterical laughter, which made him break out in hysterical laughter. It was a moment that we both needed...just 1 minute of hysterical laughter. I love that Campbell thinks of himself as a gentleman at such a young age. I just hope that he continues to think of himself that way and continues to try to act like one.
Last night, we decided to light the outdoor firepit and eat our dinner outside. Campbell was so excited...not sure if he was more excited to help get the fire going or knowing that we were going to roast marshmallows after dinner. Both equally exciting to an almost 3 year old boy! So, I named it Campbell's birthday eve celebration. I put a frozen pizza in the oven, grabbed some paper plates and of course, the marshmallows. We loved eating fireside. It was a night of pure happiness with our little guy who deserved some much needed attention from Mommy and Daddy.

After C was in bed, I got to work on the cupcakes for his birthday party today and Jason began putting together the train table that my parents gave him. All I know is that I went to bed at 1:00 and Jason came to bed around 3:30. Not only did he put the train table together, but he assembled all of the pieces that go on top. Then he put together a wooden workbench for Campbell. My wonderful husband is such a trooper to do all of that last night, especially after the crazy week he's had at work. I know a little guy who will be so appreciative.

So now we're back to the morning of C's birthday. Parker is hanging out with me in the office while I type this and upload some photos. After I put him back down for a little morning siesta, I am off to make pancakes for Campbell's birthday breakfast.

It's going to be a crazy day with soccer, his best friend's birthday party, and his own party...followed by trick-or-treating. I can't wait to post some fun pictures of the day. In the meantime, be sure to check our picasaweb...lots of new photos. www.picasaweb.google.com/spencefam2

Labor and Delivery...
I cannot believe that my last post was June 21st. So much has happened and I can hardly believe that it's already September 8th! Let's go back a few months...
After my last post, I had an ultrasound and doctor's appointment. The baby measured about 5 lbs. 14 oz. - about a pound less than Campbell did at 36 weeks. I was definitely progressing, so my doctor decided to schedule an induction for 1pm - July 7th - almost 39 weeks.
Each week, I made more progress and my doctor started thinking that I may not make it to the 7th. With that news, Jason put me on house arrest over the 4th of July weekend.
Mom and Dad arrived on Sunday the 5th (after two VERY long days of traveling from NOLA), with mom suffering from neck and shoulder spasms. Such troopers and we are so appreciative of their effort to be here.
Monday morning, I got a call saying they would move me up to an 8am induction the following day. So, I alerted our wonderful babysitter, Stuart, that she would be needed at 7am.
Of course, no sleep for me on Monday night...my nerves were racing and I was anxious to get the show on the road! Finally, it was time to get up and shower and head out. Unfortunately, we got a call from the hospital saying they didn't have any beds in labor and delivery - completely full - to wait for them to call me back. UGH! How frustrating. So...we waited, and we waited, and we waited. Keep in mind...I have not eaten one thing since midnight. My doctor finally signed off on letting me have broth and ice chips - thank GOD!
Around 1:00, the doctor's office called and said it would most likely happen but to wait to hear from them by 3. So, I continued to lay in bed - feeling contractions, but didn't know if my mind was playing tricks on me. Finally, at 3:15, they said to be there for 4:00. We were on the way!
Got to labor and delivery at 4:00 and still had to wait for a room. Finally got into a room at 5:00. They started the monitor and sure enough, I was having contractions. At 6:00, they gave me the pitocin and at 6:30, my doctor checked me and broke my water. Now the party was really getting started :)! At 7:00, I got my FABULOUS (and I really mean fabulous) epidural. At 8:30, my doctor checked on my progress and decided it was time. After 5 pushes and about 15 minutes later, Parker Eshleman Spence was born! It was such an easy delivery.
