Labor and Delivery...
I cannot believe that my last post was June 21st. So much has happened and I can hardly believe that it's already September 8th! Let's go back a few months...
After my last post, I had an ultrasound and doctor's appointment. The baby measured about 5 lbs. 14 oz. - about a pound less than Campbell did at 36 weeks. I was definitely progressing, so my doctor decided to schedule an induction for 1pm - July 7th - almost 39 weeks.
Each week, I made more progress and my doctor started thinking that I may not make it to the 7th. With that news, Jason put me on house arrest over the 4th of July weekend.
Mom and Dad arrived on Sunday the 5th (after two VERY long days of traveling from NOLA), with mom suffering from neck and shoulder spasms. Such troopers and we are so appreciative of their effort to be here.
Monday morning, I got a call saying they would move me up to an 8am induction the following day. So, I alerted our wonderful babysitter, Stuart, that she would be needed at 7am.
Of course, no sleep for me on Monday night...my nerves were racing and I was anxious to get the show on the road! Finally, it was time to get up and shower and head out. Unfortunately, we got a call from the hospital saying they didn't have any beds in labor and delivery - completely full - to wait for them to call me back. UGH! How frustrating. So...we waited, and we waited, and we waited. Keep in mind...I have not eaten one thing since midnight. My doctor finally signed off on letting me have broth and ice chips - thank GOD!
Around 1:00, the doctor's office called and said it would most likely happen but to wait to hear from them by 3. So, I continued to lay in bed - feeling contractions, but didn't know if my mind was playing tricks on me. Finally, at 3:15, they said to be there for 4:00. We were on the way!
Got to labor and delivery at 4:00 and still had to wait for a room. Finally got into a room at 5:00. They started the monitor and sure enough, I was having contractions. At 6:00, they gave me the pitocin and at 6:30, my doctor checked me and broke my water. Now the party was really getting started :)! At 7:00, I got my FABULOUS (and I really mean fabulous) epidural. At 8:30, my doctor checked on my progress and decided it was time. After 5 pushes and about 15 minutes later, Parker Eshleman Spence was born! It was such an easy delivery.

What a change in 11 days!
Since my doctor's appointment on Tuesday, I have felt like the baby is dropping and I am progressing. We will know if this is true tomorrow at my next appointment. To see the difference, I decided to take a picture of myself just now and compare it to my last photo. It's been 11 days since and I think there's quite a difference.
35 weeks
36 weeks and 4 days
Also, just a special Happy Father's Day to Jason. I couldn't have asked for a better father for Campbell and our little one. He's such a wonderful role model and I am so blessed.

Houston...we have an induction date!
The Spence Family visited Dr. Piness yesterday for our 36 week ultrasound and checkup. Campbell was super excited to see baby brother on the "tv" but I don't think he really got it. It was a little difficult for him to understand what we was actually seeing. But he was happy as can be having his snack sitting on Daddy's lap while the technician get the measurements.
Baby Boy #2 is measuring 5 pounds 11 ounces - a whole pound less than Campbell at 36 weeks. AND the best news? His head didn't measure too big, phew!!!
When Dr. Piness examined me, she said everything looked "perfect." I am 2 centimeters and things are beginning to move along. She is going to induce me on July 7th! So now I have 20 days to get everything ready for the arrival of our new little one. The list making must kick into high gear...you know me...I have a task and I need to be organized :)!
I will continue to get checked every week until the 7th and hopefully things will continue to be perfect.
Here's a profile picture of "Herman" - yes, Herman. My dad named him that since we are not announcing the name until he is born.
Love to everyone!

Campbell is quite the character...
So I went to pick up Campbell yesterday from school and his teacher told his best friend's mom and I that C and Grace (his best friend) got into a little love lock yesterday. Apparently, they were off on the side of the playground in a 3 minute embrace. Then, they started to lean in and kiss each other. Campbell kissed Grace on the cheek and she then shook her head and pointed to her mouth. When I asked Campbell about it, he had this huge mischevious smile - I think he knew he was being a flirt! Glad we've known Grace and her parents for almost 2 years.
Then...after C's bath last night, we were reading his books and snuggling before he went to bed. (Now that he's in a big boy bed, he likes for one of us to lay with him and snuggle) We started talking about what were going to do today and he asked if we would watch the Today Show after we wake up. Of course, it made me chuckle since it's on in our house every morning. Then I asked him what his favorite part of the Today Show was and he said "Willahd (doesn't pronounce the "r") Scott. He continued to say that Willahd Scott talks about the jelly jar on the Today Show. This is 100% accurate since Smucker's jelly is the sponsor of the birthday segment that Willard hosts. I explained to him the purpose of the jelly jars and why people's pictures were on them. I then asked him what else he liked about the Today Show and he said Al Roker. Maybe C will be a weatherman when he grows up! I have to say...this conversation really got me going. For the past week or two, C has been asking to watch Al Roker and the Today Show...little did I know that he really knows who some of the players are. My mom said I need to video this conversation - if I can get him to do it again - and send it to NBC.
Glad we have a video of 2 crazy ladies on the Today Show (one of them attacking Al) from the 90's. Who might they be? Yep, me and my mom! The next time we go to New Orleans, I'll have to show it C. Yes, the tape is there in a hidden place that no one knows!
That's all for now. I just had to recap the conversation before my pregnesia set in and I forgot it all.

35 Weeks!
The great news is that I'm 35 weeks today and so far have not had any of the same problems I had with Campbell!!! I am so blessed to not be on moderate bedrest with baby boy #2. It would be so difficult to take care of Campbell if I were in that situation. I am hoping that the little guy is dropping (although I still look pretty high) and that next week he measures big enough for my doctor consider an induction.
I was able to find a picture of my at 35 weeks with Campbell. Believe it or not, I have the same tank top on!
Campbell is getting very excited about the baby coming. His latest question to me is when the baby is not in my belly anymore, can I hold him. I think he's a little frustrated with my belly getting in the way these days.
He's in his 3rd week of camp and loving it! It's been an adjustment having him go Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. He's pretty wiped out on Friday, but gets a good amount of rest over the weekend. Next week is the last week of camp. While I would love for it to go until I have the baby, I am looking forward to spending a couple of my last weeks with Campbell. I know it will be a very special time for us and hopefully many fun hours at the pool! Especially since that's the only place that's easy for me to play with him.
Have a great Wednesday everyone. I'm off to do things around the house.
