Ski Trip 2009!

On Friday afternoon, we picked up Campbell and headed out of town to Wisp Ski Resort in western MD. The Price family joined us for a long weekend - to avoid the Inaugural madness. We arrived around 6:30 to a great townhouse with snow everywhere! The Prices were not far behind. Once they arrived, we headed out to grab pizza for the kids.

On Saturday, the dads ventured out to ski their first runs in the morning. They had a great time and Jeff mastered skiing for the first time!

On Sunday, the dads took the day off from skiing and we all piled in the suburban and went to Herrington Manor National Park to go sledding. For $3 per sled...we couldn't have asked for anymore fun! The kids were screaming with delight as we went down the hill! Campbell loved watching Jason make a snowman and even learning how to make snow angels! His favorite part of the entire trip was eating "ice" (snow). He thought it was so yummy! I wasn't too wild about the taste!

Sunday afternoon, the dads took care of naptime and Mere and ventured out to the fudge and sweet shop in town. We loaded up on some delicious treats. I think I ate most of them all by myself - but it was for the baby of course! That seems to be my excuse for everything I eat lately.

Monday, the dads hit the slopes all day. We took it easy and let the kids play outside in the 2 feet high snow by the house. You could tell we were nearing the end of the trip as we had some fussy little ones. We ended the day with meeting up with the dads and going on a mountain roller coaster (the Prices did that with Ella - their 4 year old), and going tubing. They had a kiddie slope for Campbell and Maddie. They had so much fun going down in the tube and poor things wanted so badly to go on the roller coaster. Next year they'll be old enough and maybe even old enough for ski school!

Tuesday morning, we packed up and headed home. It was a fabulous weekend filled with LOTS of laughter and fun.

Be sure to check out all of the pictures on the link to the left(Picasa 2). I have had to start a new picasa album - so click on the newer one.

On another note...went to the doctor last week and all is great with Baby #2! Had a good heartbeat. We will have our first ultrasound on February 13th and will find out what sex the baby is! Stay tuned for the news!

Pajama Day At School

Today is Pajama Day at school. All children were asked to wear their pj's to school and they are having a pancake breakfast for lunch! I have to say it was nice not having to make Campbell's lunch today OR think about what he would wear. Don't worry, I didn't send him to school in the pj's that he slept in. Instead, he wore his BUG pj's! It was so fun seeing all of the kiddos coming into school in their snuggly pajamas. Campbell was pretty excited about having pancakes for lunch - it sure beats his jelly sandwich and cheese stick that he gets everyday!

Happy New Year!

2009 is here and I can hardly believe it! We rang in the new year at the Krueger's house with 4 other couples. We were the only ones with child in tow but thankfully Campbell is such a great sleeper we just put him upstairs in his pack-n-play and he slept thru all of the festivities. It was a fun night with a fabulous menu of fine cheeses to begin with, followed by pork, macaroni and cheese, goat cheese potatos au gratin, green beans, and a salad! YUMMMMY! It was perfect for my many cravings. I think Baby Spence was on food overload by the end of the meal. I guess I'm taking the "eating for two" a little too seriously! Now that the holidays are over, I need to start watching it because my doctor is a stickler about the weight. UGH!!!

On New Year's Day we went to the Shattls house (right around the corner) for their New Year's open house. They had tons of great food (just great given my needing to watch how much I eat). Campbell enjoyed playing with Sophia and telling everyone Happy New Year!

It's been a nice weekend (playing at the neighborhood playground) and hanging around the house with awesome fires going. We are gearing up for school to start back this week. I am looking forward to Campbell going back to school and I think he is too. I think he's getting a little bored with me. He's very excited to tell Ms. Jeanine and Ms. Hula (his teachers) that he's going to be a big brother. He keeps "Campbell big brother" and then says "tell Jeanine and Hula that." He's also learned to be gentle with Mommy's belly because the baby is in there. I'm sure he'll be quite surprised when my belly begins to get bigger.

Campbell will also start his JW Tumbles class on Wednesday. He'll do this every Wednesday for 2 months. It's an in-door play room where the instructors work with the kids on different things. He did it last winter and it's a great activity during the cold winter months.

On January 16th, we will be heading with the Price family to Wisp Ski Resort in western Maryland. It's the weekend prior to Obama's inauguration and we decided to get away from the madness and enjoy a fun weekend. Jason and Jeff are planning on doing the skiing while Meredith and I play with the kids and maybe even hit the spa while the guys takeover with the kiddos for a while!

In February, we will get ready to head to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Campbell is very excited and can't wait to see Jason ride on the float.
Lots of fun ahead! Stay tuned for updates and pictures and remember to check our picasaweb album - link to the left - often. Pictures are updated there very often.
Again, Happy New Year!

Christmas has come and gone...on to the New Year!

It is amazing how a 2 year old can understand Christmas. Campbell was very excited to put out cookies and milk for Santa and reindeer food for Rudolph. I wonder how they got eaten, wink, wink! After a fun Christmas Eve gathering at our house with 3 other families, Campbell fell fast asleep and I am sure dreaming of all the goodies he was going to get the following morning.
Christmas morning, Jason and I woke up at 7:30 and literally had to wake Campbell up at 8:30. I am sure that will be the ONLY Christmas that we will have to do that. He loved opening his gifts and playing with all of his new toys!

Christmas afternoon we headed to Charlottesville to be with Jason's brother and his family. Their girls are 12, almost 10, and 7. They provided constant entertainment for Campbell and he LOVED following them around and doing whatever they told him to do!

On Saturday we went to Lynchburg to see the rest of Jason's family. Had a wonderful time seeing everyone and Campbell did quite a good job of showing off!

We returned last night and are now ready to ring in the New Year! 2009 is going to be a great year and we are thrilled to announce that Baby #2 will arrive in mid-July! Happy Happy New Year everyone!

Ho, Ho, Ho!

We had a rainy and cold day this week, so I decided to take Campbell to the mall to see Santa. He's been talking a lot about Santa and I wanted to see if he'd really sit on his lap for a picture. He did get a little shy but enjoyed sitting on his lap. He especially enjoyed the candy cane that Santa gave him after the picture was taken!

Merry Christmas!

It's hard to believe that Christmas is here. Last week ended up being a whirlwind with returning early Monday morning from NOLA then heading into activities for the Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend (put on by the organization that I am on the board). Somehow, we found time between walking in a parade on Saturday morning (in the 30 degree weather), a baby shower, and birthday party on Sunday, to get a Christmas tree! We ventured out after Campbell's nap on Saturday in the light snow that was falling...certainly made it feel like a true Christmas season. Jason, Campbell, and I went thru the nursery and found the perfect tree! It's full, tall and smells fabulous. Campbell is enjoying singing "Oh Christmas Tree" - although he can only repeat that phrase and does it over and over again! I must teach him a new song!

Last night, I covered the tree in bows (something I've wanted to do every year but just never had the time). Campbell then decided to "cheese" it up for the camera!

Merry Christmas and more fun pictures to come!
